Refinishing

 Refinishing is a very common term used in the remodeling world that describes the act of applying a new finish to something, whether that be tile flooring, bathtubs, showers or countertops. When something gets refinished, it basically gets a new surface. 
The old surface gets a new coat and it will transform the entire looks of the refinished surface.

Resurfacing

Resurfacing and refinishing are two terms that are often used interchangeably. Resurfacing describes the act of providing something with a new and fresh surface. 
Think about bathroom resurfacing: when a bathtub, shower or sink is resurfaced, it gets a new layer because the old one is probably showing signs of cracking, chipping or other damage. When a bathroom refacing company comes by, they will follow their refacing process, which consists of first stripping of the old finish, than sanding the tub to create a smooth surface. If there is any holes, cracks or chips they will be repaired. Than, a primer, multiple layers of coating and a sealant are applied.

Restoration describes the act of something being restored or brought back to the condition it once was. In terms of kitchen or bathtub remodeling, restoration is often describes as refinishing or refacing. 

​Reglazing

Reglazing describes the act of putting a new glaze on something like a bathtub, shower or tiles. 
Whenever the glaze of let’s say your tile floor is damaged, there is still a way to enhance the beauty of that tile floor by reglazing it. A tile reglazing company will come by and removes surface imperfections like scratches and shallow cracks and will than apply different layers of reglazing coating and finally a sealant, and your tile floor will look as beautiful as it once was!

Painting refers more to ‘painting a house’ but people will use the term as well in kitchen and bathroom restoration, although it’s technically better to use terms like bathroom or kitchen refacing or refinishing, since that process involves a lot more than just painting.
